Winemaker

Rick Flickinger’s initial interest in the winemaking business began as a rather involved hobby back in 1999. His passion for the industry and specifically in the winemaking process thrust him into an endeavor to learn more about the essence of the art. Through education both at the institutional level and via hands on experience in a small family owned winery he advanced his knowledge as a vintner over the years to the point where demand for his varietals began to outstrip his ability to provide enough wine to satisfy that demand. Finally it was the encouragement from local restaurateurs, having experienced his offerings, that convinced him to pursue his ultimate passion as a winemaker and open Galena Summit Winery in Sun Valley Idaho with the intent of providing a few varietals for some rather sophisticated menus and wine lists. As excited as Rick may appear in this early success with his first two offerings, he looks forward with great anticipation to several new varietal introductions now in his cellars.
